Housing Assistance

Homeless Services

The Family Support Services unit at Ashe DSS offers assistance for people who are homeless or in danger of becoming homeless.  Social Workers can do a global assessment of the situation and offer a variety of services and options/referrals, depending on each individual situation. Services may include referrals to homeless shelters, the provision of transportation on a limited basis, assistance with completing HUD and other housing applications, and help obtaining documents required for housing, such as birth certifications and social security cards. Agency social workers make all attempts to maintain regular contact with clients who are homeless to ensure their basic needs are met while they are working to obtain safe, stable housing.
